General

What is ShopSandoval?

ShopSandoval is the online shop of chef Richard Sandoval, part of Richard Sandoval Hospitality. It's a chef-curated collection of the cookware, knives, tableware, and pantry staples that bring Latin flavors to life — the tools and ingredients we'd put on our own counters.

Who is Richard Sandoval?

Richard Sandoval is a Mexican-born chef, restaurateur, and author with restaurants around the world. His pioneering Latin cuisine spans concepts like Toro Toro, Maya, and Tamayo — and this shop brings that world into your kitchen.

What makes ShopSandoval different?

Curation. We don't list everything — we choose a small number of excellent pieces per category, from makers we trust, and every item ships directly from the partner who makes it. Fewer, better things.

Who are your makers and partners?

We partner with brands like CRISTEL (France), Swiss Diamond (Switzerland), STEELPORT (Portland, Oregon), Stargazer Cast Iron (Pennsylvania), Spicewalla (Asheville), and Mexican artisan collectives like Chica Mexico. Look for the brand profile on each product page to read their story.

Do you offer gift cards?

Yes — ShopSandoval gift cards work across the entire collection, from cookware to pantry. They're delivered by email and never expire.

What are Experiences and VOYA?

Experiences are chef-led dinners, tastings, and cultural events at Richard Sandoval restaurants worldwide. VOYA is Richard Sandoval Hospitality's free loyalty program — earn rewards on dining and experiences at participating restaurants.

Ordering, Shipping & Returns

Where do you ship?

We currently ship within the United States. Some partners can't deliver to P.O. Boxes or APO/FPO addresses, and Alaska and Hawaii may take longer or cost more — checkout will show your options.

When will my order ship?

Most orders are packed and handed to the carrier within 1–3 business days, then arrive within 3–8 business days in the continental U.S. Full details are on our Shipping & Delivery page.

Why did my order arrive in multiple packages?

Every item ships directly from the partner who makes it, so an order with items from more than one maker arrives in separate packages — sometimes on different days. You'll get tracking for each shipment, so if one box lands first, the rest is on its way.

Can I change or cancel my order?

Only before the partner begins preparing it — usually within a few hours of purchase. Email us right away with your order number and we'll do our best. Once shipped, an order can't be changed, but most items can be returned.

What is your return policy?

Most items can be returned within 7 days of delivery, unused and in original packaging. Food, beverage, and pantry items are final sale for food-safety reasons, along with gift cards and items marked final sale. Always start a return by contacting us first — we'll send the right return address and instructions.

My order arrived damaged — what do I do?

We're sorry! Contact us within 7 days of delivery with your order number and photos of the item and packaging, and we'll replace or refund it. You never pay return shipping for a damaged or incorrect item.

When will I get my refund?

Once your return is received and inspected, refunds go back to your original payment method within 5–10 business days. Your bank may take a few extra days to post it.

Cookware

Is your cookware PFAS-free?

Much of it, yes — look for the PFAS-free tag on stainless, cast iron, ceramic, and ceramic-nonstick pieces. Where a product does use a traditional PTFE nonstick coating, we say so clearly in the Materials Note on its product page. We believe in honest labels, so you can choose what's right for your kitchen.

Will it work on my induction stove?

Many of our pieces are induction-ready — check the product page, which lists compatibility for every item. Fully clad stainless and cast iron generally work on induction; pure ceramic pieces like Ceraflame do not.

How do I care for cast iron?

Our Stargazer skillets arrive seasoned and ready to cook. After use, wash with warm water (a little soap is fine), dry thoroughly, and wipe with a thin coat of neutral oil. Avoid the dishwasher and long soaks.

Can Ceraflame ceramic go straight on the flame?

Yes — that's its specialty. Ceraflame's refractory ceramic moves from open flame to table. Warm it gradually, avoid thermal shocks like cold water into a hot pan, and hand wash.

What's special about CRISTEL's removable handles?

CRISTEL's Cook & Serve system lets you clip the handle on to cook, remove it to serve or store, and stack pans flat. Handles click on and off in one motion — the pans go from stovetop to oven to table.

Knives & Boards

How do I care for a carbon steel knife?

Hand wash, dry immediately, and give the blade an occasional light coat of food-safe oil. Carbon steel develops a natural patina with use — that's character, not damage. Never leave it wet or in the dishwasher.

How do I keep my knife sharp?

Hone regularly and sharpen when needed. STEELPORT knives include their SharpForever program — free professional sharpening for the life of the knife. Details come with your knife.

How do I care for wooden cutting boards?

Hand wash with mild soap, dry upright, and oil monthly with food-safe mineral oil or board cream. Never soak a wooden board or put it in the dishwasher.

Tabletop & Bar

Why does my handmade piece look slightly different from the photo?

Because it is different — beautifully so. Our stoneware, porcelain, and artisan pieces are individually handmade, so glaze, tone, and texture vary slightly from piece to piece. No two are identical, and that's the point.

Is the dinnerware dishwasher safe?

Most stoneware and porcelain is dishwasher safe on a gentle cycle, but pieces with gold rims or hand-applied finishes should be hand washed. Check each product page for specifics.

How do I cure a molcajete?

A new lava-rock or clay molcajete needs a quick cure: grind a handful of raw rice with a little water, discard the gritty paste, and repeat until the rice grinds clean. Then season with garlic, salt, and cumin — and it's ready for a lifetime of salsas.

Pantry

Are pantry items returnable?

For food-safety reasons, food and beverage items are final sale — unless something arrives damaged or defective, in which case we'll make it right.

How should I store spices and dried chiles?

Cool, dark, and dry. Whole dried chiles keep their character for up to a year in an airtight container; ground spices are at their best within 6–12 months. If it doesn't smell like anything, it won't taste like anything.

Where can I find allergen and ingredient information?

Every food product page includes the maker's ingredient list. Always check the physical label on arrival too — our partners' recipes are the source of truth.
